Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Customer Reviewswe can all relate to thisMy 9 yr. old son talked me into reading this. He sat next to me to listen to me chuckling..asking "what part are you on? and laughing at the memory of what it said. It is so funny. A very easy read, and delightful for both kids and adults. Don't miss it. An Awesome Book ( a review from a seventh grader) Diary of a Wimpy Kid is book is so funny! first of all I just wanna say, don't listen to any review under 4 stars. Some people find this book inappropriate, as if it sets bad examples for middle school children. For example they say it makes kids think they should lie to their parents, be mean to their friends, and think its fun to scare little kids. The people who write this reviews don't understand middle schoolers. I am one, and let me tell you that is pretty much what the average kind of middle school boy does. Also those are only the bad qualities of W.K. he also has many good qualities, but I don't really have to explain them because they are the kind of qualities anyone has. My 7-year-old loved this book I will admit W.K. isn't smarter than average(but that's kind of the point) but that's how kids(who don't know this already)know not to do the bad things he sometimes does. This book is hilarious story of new sixth grader just entering middle school, who describes all the problems of a middle schooler that most kids can relate to, in diary form. It is enjoyable to read a book as if it is talking to you. Parents who didn't like this book are probably the kind of parents who should learn not act like the parents in the book. The mother is a sort of a mom who thinks she understands children but doesn't really. the dad isn't really bad or good, but kinda weird. Both parents pay much more attention to W.K.'s little brother Manny. his older brother Rodrick is your basic mean and occasionally helpful older brother. All together this is an amazingly funny journal of Greg Heffley over the course of a year, I recommend it to any social person. Also I recommend the sequels (:Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules (Diary of a Wimpy Kid) Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw (Diary of a Wimpy Kid) Diary of a Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Book Literally would not put it down, stopped only when forced. He read the whole thing in about 24 hours. I think most boys (and probably most girls too) would enjoy this book based on my son's experience. Teacher's Grade: A+ I teach 4th grade in an inner-city elementary school, and this book gets top marks from me for one primary reason: the kids in my class love reading it! My son loved this book The fact that my diverse class can be so excited by one single book is a small miracle, but the simple illustrations and related storylines have captured the imaginations of my students, who are have been hard at work on their own journals since the school year began. I am going to start reading a similarly styled, but slightly more highbrow book, "The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole." Believe the hype about this book! He is not big on reading but has entered Middle School and due to being on punishment had nothing else to do, he read it in one day and loved it. Now I am getting part II for him as a surprise. I think that on many levels it speaks to him because he is in the moment and can relate to the writer's point of view.
