I Promise (Arabesque)

Customer ReviewsJust OK.Byrd, I love your books, but you let me down on this one. "I Promise", has excellent characters & story line. I just wished, you did not save the last 50 pages for the best part of the book, then leave the readers wanting more. Don't get me wrong, it is excellent to see romance w/ someone w/ imperfections (thats life). This story offers a two-for-one romance Jordan and Malcolm are twins who grew up with the proverbial "silver spoon" in their mouths. Jordan has forged a life for himself both working in the family business and pursuing interests of his own. Malcolm has enjoyed the good life of being the son of a wealthy father and really hasn't come into his own. However, he thinks he has found the woman of his dreams in Christian and proposes to her. Unfortunately she doesn't feel the same way. When Christian mistakes Jordan for his twin Malcolm, sparks fly that she never felt with Malcolm who she think of as a friend or brother. ok but not GREAT! Christian and Jordan's attraction is explored in this book and Adrianne Bryd crafts an interesting, if at times unrealistic, tale about whether Christian and Jordan will act upon their attraction. A side tale evolves as Malcolm realizes that someone else in his life has a deeper interest in him that he may well reciprocate. Christian and Jordan's story is good; however, Christian's roommate Alex and her interaction with Malcolm really intrigued me. First release in 1999, I was thrilled to know that a follow up entitled "Say you Love Me" was released in 2000. Therefore, I don't have to wait to get more of both Christian/Jordan and Alex/Malcolm! I liked the story especially the beginning. All through the book I kept wondering "What is wrong with this girl". Of course you don't find out until the end what she has gone through (going through) and why she pushes men away. I thought it quite unbelievable that a man would knowingly kiss his twin brother's girl especially since she has told him she wants to end the relationship (with his brother)??? Truly wonderful story. This story was ok but not as good as the other's report. Good things were in store for Christian, a young woman who had faced several obstacles before in her life. Christian lost her parents in a car wreck, that also traumatized her because she was also in the accident. Now, Christian was facing cancer in her own life. However, there were many good things in her life. She had a wonderful, loving grandmother and an uncle, as well as other family members and friends, Malcolm Williams, for one. But to Malcolm, Christian was more than a friend. Malcolm thought he was in love with Christian and wanted to marry her. Needless to say, Christian's feelings did not run deep enough for her to love Malcolm in that way -- to promise to be his wife. Before she can explain things to him, Christian unknowingly meets Malcolm's twin brother, Jordan. After mistakenly giving what she thought was a friendly parting kiss to Malcolm, sparks fly for Jordan and he is helplessly drawn to Christian. Things develop between them and although the developments in their lives are not easy, love is there and prevails. Every Woman's Dream "I Promise" is a book about love, trust, and commitment. It is about being there no matter what comes along. It is also about the educational awareness of breast cancer in women. It can not only strike the old or middle age, but the young are vulnerable also. Adrianne captured every woman's dream of finding Mr. Right...I feel as if I know Jordan and Christian personally. I see myself in their situation, afraid of loving even when I know its right...Adrianne, your talent flows throughout this masterpiece...I can't wait to see what lies ahead for Jordan and Chris. 9 reviews found.
