No answer key? 3 stars
This is a decent algebra 2 workbook but I don't recommend it because there is no answer key.
A terrible book 2 stars
I'm working out of this book in high school these days - I actually am in high school but I used the kid's review because I've no account - but it's really the worst math textbook I have ever used. It gives practice problems with certain factors that are not explained in the text. In its attempt to teach methods, it provides examples with little or no explanation of how to perform the steps. It recieves two stars only because you can sometimes figure out how to complete a problem by looking up the answers to the odd questions in the back of the book. If you, like me, are being forced to study from this book, do yourself a favor and take great notes in class.
Good Real World Applications - If You Can Figure Them Out 3 stars
This is a great book if you ever wanted the answer to the question "Why do I have to know this?" I find this book very interesting because it shows me countless examples of where I can find or apply the concepts in my world. But, here's the glitch: I am a tutor and I have enough experience which enables me to sift through the material and translate it for the kids, but my students get hopelessly lost with this book because it takes the "do this, do that, then this, then that and you have your solution" approach. My students, all working independently of each other, come up with the same question: "Why do they do that?" This text does a very poor job of explaining the reasoning behind the steps. It emphasizes knowledge but leaves a big void in understanding. Kids learn and develop an appreciation for math when they understand the beauty of math, i.e., when it's logical and makes perfect sense. This book is great for the initiated and for someone that always wanted to know "what's this all about?" But it frequently sends new algebra students' heads spinning with confusion.
