The Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider's Guide
|
Customer ReviewsIndispensable ReferenceThis is the book I wish Sherrilyn Kenyon would have written for the Dark Hunter series. That insider's guide was disappointing. J. R. Ward's was worth the money to me. Not just a good read. Unlike some of the detractors, I do not frequent the BDB website so most of this material was new to me. Even if I did know it, I think I would like having all the material in one place. I found this series at the third book. All the books happen with a few years so the timeline and interviews help me put things in their chronological order. Father Mine and the Lover Avenged excerpt are nice bonuses. By the way, the novella is available on it own as an ebook. I hope she follows this book up with another insider's guide when she has done another six in the series. I am glad the next book is coming out in less than a year but I am disappointed to hear that it will be hardcover. I will probably get it as an ebook to save room. This was the first companion I ever bought, and the only reason I bought it was for the Bella and Zadist novella. Having read it through though, I strongly disagree with others who say it wasn't worth the cost. True, there was quite a bit that I had already read on Ward's website, but there was also a lot of information about her writing process, which as a writer hoping to get published one day, I found very interesting. Not only did this book entertain me with new info about the Brothers, but it also gave me some motivation and insight to get my novel published. Kept the BDB addiction going Although I would have preferred to get another installment of the BDB books, this is also a nice placeholder while we are impatiently wait for the next books. Ward's writing style makes the characters like part of your family and this book adds so much to our imaginations. There were pieces from the books that had gone unanswered and that needed more fleshing out, and she definitely delivers with the Guide. Its a great way to respect her readers and make us all more even more loyal! Jessica Bird I am in the process of reading this guide right now and am really enjoying hearing how she developed each of the books, and the brothers. With all of the information that is supplied in this book, I think the most excited piece was learning that J.R. Ward originally authored books under the name of Jessica Bird. I just can't wait to see how her writing style has changed over the years. Great if you are a fan! This book has tons of background material on all the previous books. Lots of conversations with the Brothers. It is a great reference guide for when you want to re-read or when you are reading future books. It also has some stuff that is posted on her website but its nice to have it all in one place. It's a fairly large book. Definitely a worthy buy if you are a fan of J.R. Ward. and the Brothers. 40 reviews found.
